Recently blogged by Visit Britain - "Fresh, cool, eco friendly and — amazingly — the first of its kind. That’s right, The Dictionary is Hackney's very first youth hostel, although probably not its last: since opening, The Dictionary has been full to the rafters with visitors eager to explore London. For anybody keen to live and experience London’s buzzing, arty east – you now have a place to stay that’s part of it."

Big smiles - welcome to the Dictionary Hostel! We can't wait to meet you. We have plenty of experience, awesome staff, a fantastic location, newly built rooms and really cool bar.

Lots of fun things to do in Shoreditch and an endless amount of creativity to be found. People from all corners of the world wanting to see, explore, shop, drink, eat and stay in Shoreditch. It is the gateway to East London and represents all that is cool.

It’s set next to the city centre and has loads of transport options including the Underground (Old Street, Liverpool Street), National Rail (Liverpool Street) and Overground (Shoreditch High Street, Hoxton) and buses to all over London (e.g. Bus 55 – Oxford Street – 20min).

All our rooms have been newly built. They have en-suites that are made up of a shower, separate toilet and a basin. All of our bunks come with lockable lockers underneath the beds and we sell locks at reception if you have forgotten yours. Linen is included.

Our private rooms are equipped with televisions, have a coffee, tea and bottled water inside and complimentary towels.

We have a lovely bar downstairs where you can buy coffee, tea and pastries or have a drink at night. Wi-Fi is free in the Lounge area and we can store your luggage for you free of charge on the day you check in and check out.

A gentle reminder to all our future guests - we are in a very vibrant area and have a popular and busy bar downstairs, especially over weekends. It is for that reason that we strongly recommend that you stay with us only if you are between 18 and 35. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about staying with us but fall outside of this age range or need a room with complete quiet from 10pm!
